the single concept my "honors" students were able to grasp during today's introductory lesson on transcendentalism:

It took forty minutes to get there, but it's a start! Guess the Emersonian concept of the Over-soul will have to wait 'till tomorrow...

I respect you for confessing. I have lived through many a uncomfortable moment when my husband or a friend sees my playlist on my iPod or pawing through my CD"s in my car. My parents did not allow me to listen to "secular" music when I was younger. I was only allowed to listen to christian music. So I finally bought a radio and secretly listened to it in the early 80's. That music meant a lot to me. It still does. Bless you, bless you...

Do you watch The Wire? I just finished watching season 4, which this reminds me of. (It's an amazing season, by the way. Heartbreaking, and maybe the best yet -- which is saying something.)

Yes! Actually, season 4 is the only one I've watched. I learned the hard way during season 3 that The Wire isn't the sort of show you can catch midway through.

But I watched season 4 in its entirety, and it was both heartbreaking and amazing. I'm so disappointed they're ending it!
